Ahead of the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, Jaguar paired the brand’s newest model, the E-Pace compact performance SUV, with the legendary Jaguar E-Type sports car for a desert photoshoot with renowned British model, David Gandy.
The E-Pace, which debuted in July 2017, combines sport car design and agility with everyday SUV practicality. The E-Pace features sports car-derived AWD technology and an all-Ingenium lineup of petrol and diesel engines, as well as a suite of connected technology and safety features. The sports car pedigree is most visible in the steeply raked roof profile, large rear spoiler and optional 21-inch alloy wheels.
The E-Pace beautifully contrasted with the Jaguar E-Type, one of the most famous and desirable cars in automotive history. The E-Type perfectly proportioned bodywork was the work of Malcolm Sayer, an aeronautical engineer by training who also applied his aerodynamic expertise in shaping the earlier Le Mans-winning C and D-Type racers. The E-Type was launched in 1961 and remained in production for 14 years, selling more than 70,000 units, making it Europe’s first mass-produced sports car.
A lifelong fan of the brand and Jaguar Land Rover ambassador, David Gandy has commissioned Jaguar Classic to locate a vintage XK120 sports car, which the team at Jaguar Land Rover Classics Works will modify through the Reborn restore programme. This programme was introduced earlier this year with the original Range Rover, Land Rover Series I and Jaguar E-Type.
