Morgan Spurlock, the self-styled director tells us in Super Size Me (2004) that fast foods are horrible, that Big Mac is bad for our health. Well, Mr Spurlock obviously doesn't drive around much. Now children may be enticed and bewildered by the toys that come with their Happy Meals but for the rest of us people on a road trip, the Golden Arches represent the American Standards, as in the toilets, that is.

So Ronald, I thank you, from the bottom of my whatever, because without you, the road shoulders will be a mess. We owe a great debt to McDonald's.
