Great Golf Game
David Ting
Tuesday, 1st December 2009 @ 22:24:18 PM

Needed to drive up to Sepang to 'cover' a Torque client's track day for its customers. So arranged a Golf GTI Mark 6, arguably the most complete hot hatch today – other than the GTI Mark 5, of course. Indeed, the current GTI was the perfect weapon for this kind of assignment. It's really fast yet reasonably frugal, capable in 'east-west' corners yet comfortable on the North-South, and it has the right amount of space for two editors and their helmets, chocolates, bits and pieces.

Cruise-controlled at a steady 120km/h, with the occasional burst to 150km/h (or was it 180km/h?), the GTI dispatched the distance with ease and brought us to Sepang in good time. Then the super Golf hit the circuit running, without missing a beat. After a few fun laps, most of them in the wet, we pulled into the paddock, bidded our hosts goodbye and headed home happily in today's most complete hot hatch, which has proven its completeness yet again on this rapid road trip.

Will the GTI (Got Ting Inside) also complete me in due course?
