Despite the blogging craze, I have never been much of a blogger and have avoided getting entrapped into the blog world, that is, until now.
This seems strange for someone who lives to write and who has written everything from the usual letters, emails and essays, to poetry, short stories, plays, dissertations, narratives, columns, and of course, car reviews and features.
I am used to forums but blogging has never really been my thing, although if you think about it, writing a blog is like posting a thread on the forum, just that a blog is more personal. And as with many new things, sometimes we have to be “forced” to try something in order to realise what we have been missing. It was the same with facebook, which I avoided for the better part of 6 months until I made it a point to get into it and now, it’s a part of my daily routine that I can’t do without.
I see this blog as an extension of “She Says”, my monthly column in Torque, but in a slightly less formal setting.
“She” reflects purely the writer’s gender, not the subject matter, so be rest assured you won’t have to read about girly stuff here, well, not for the most part, at least. I am not Aunt Agony, so don’t be expecting advice on how to pacify your girlfriend after you spent the entire weekend on your car instead of quality time with her, nor tips on how to convert your girlfriend into a petrolhead like myself.
Unlike writing for Torque- the magazine, which you paid good money for and so I feel duty-bound to provide an informative and accurate read worth your money, Torque- the blog is a less formal and much more engaging platform, but since you took the effort to click, as a member of the Torque team, we are still responsible for what we post, so I hope my ramblings are at least mildly entertaining.
I do however, promise you that my blog will be absolutely personal and of the utmost honesty.
When I complain about neighbours with V10’s. VTEC’s, VL’s (read Very Loud) who habitually floor their pedals even when they are coming home at 3 am in the morning, I hope you can identify with my irritation. When I am thrilled at having found a new free parking spot near some perpetually crowded joint, I hope you share my joy. And when I create a new blog entry, I hope you enjoyed the previous one enough to come back and read the next one.
Till next time…
