Game doesn’t begin to describe the mood of the 80 participants who signed up for the first-ever Torque On The Move event.
Presented by Panasonic Lumix, TOTM builds on the success of the magazine’s signature Breakfast With Torque series. Instead of having food in just one place, participants are led, with some cunning clues, to restaurants around the island, given “challenges” to tackle and opportunities to compose photographs that best fit the theme at each location.
For most, the adventure begins on the night before the event, spending time to decorating their cars and, for the savvy ones, their bag of props that they think will give an edge in the photo competition.
Of all the dressed up cars at the event, there was a Hyundai Verna that stood out. It look like it drove through a flower orchard the previous night.
But not everyone limited the dressing up to the cars. The team of Steven Tan and Kevin Cheong went further donning wacky wigs and costumes.
But these two buddies from National Service weren’t clowning around. Besides making repeated rounds at the buffet tables, their photograph also won the judges’ vote for its composition. For their work, the pair make off with the top prize which included a Lumix TZ10 digital camera worth $649, $200 Takashimaya shopping voucher and a $100 Quick Lane service voucher.
