BENTLEY is deeply involved in the international motorsport scene, with its Continental GT3 racecars taking part in more than 90 top-level GT races worldwide with the factory and customer teams.
This year, Bentley’s motor racing programme includes the Blancpain GT Series, Pirelli World Challenge and the fast-growing China GT Series.
The automaker’s quest to rule the GT racing world has a new partner in Princess Yachts, a British manufacturer of luxury cabin cruisers.
To find out more about the three-year sponsorship deal as well as Bentley’s motor racing activities, we chat with Kevin Simpson, Bentley Motors’ motorsport marketing manager.
How does the new partnership with Princess Yachts work?
Bentley Motorsport and Princess Yachts are a great fit. A combination of luxury and performance behind both brands means that we both have similar values and directions. Our races around the world offer networking opportunities for Princess Yachts and its customers.
Would Bentley be prospecting for motorsport clients among Princess Yachts’ customers?
This is not the purpose of our partnership. However, if there are gentleman racers in that world, of course we would look into creating the perfect racing package for them.
Will there ever be a one-make race series featuring the Continental GT3?
We are constantly looking for ways in which to develop our racing programme, and a singlemake series is one possibility.
Can anyone purchase a Continental GT3 racecar and participate in any race series that suits it?
Yes. Our car has been designed with the customer in mind. Anyone with a racing license can buy and race a brand-new Continental GT3, which costs approximately £368,000 ($650,000). We’ll tailor a package that suits your requirements, depending on where you will be racing and how the car will be used.
