THE HUMOUR MILL
ALVIN PHUA I was a subscriber of Carma before it became part of Torque, and I continue to subscribe to Torque. I enjoyed the articles in Carma and its sense of humour, and I’m glad Torque has been able to preserve that.
But I think Torque can do better if it can be more critical in the car reviews. It seems that the focus is always on the positives, with not much mentioned about the shortcomings of the cars reviewed.
In any case, I still enjoy reading Torque and always look forward to receiving my magazine every month.
Torque Thanks for your support, loyal subscriber. As for our car reviews, “finding fault” has become increasingly difficult because the cars are getting better and better, in virtually every aspect that matters to the intended end users. However, we’ll try harder to highlight the less positive characteristics of new cars being reviewed.

DIGITAL DETRACTOR
VINCENT LEE Personally, I hate the digital edition of Torque. I love the feeling of paper, and I love to flip the pages around. And the contests you run are always fun and interesting. How about making the prizes really big? Perhaps a trip to Germany to see how supercars are made there and to test them.
Torque We’re still printing, and simultaneously sprinting down Singapore’s information superhighway with our digital edition, website and Facebook page.

TEN AND COUNTING (ON TORQUE)
STEVEN LEE Torque should do more articles about extending the life of your car beyond 10 years, as more people are keeping their cars by renewing their COEs. The articles could cover the things to note, such as the PQP (Prevailing Quota Premium), the opportunity cost and the parts of the “COE car” that need to be inspected/replaced.
Torque Your suggestion is duly noted, but the editorial engine of Torque is driven by brand new cars with equally brand new COEs.

DRIVERLESS = DANGEROUS?
MICHAEL GOH I think it is not safe to have driverless cars in Singapore [Torque website story: Driverless car hits lorry during test- drive]. I sincerely hope the LTA studies these autonomous cars seriously.
Torque Driverless cars are crucial to the next evolution of automotive mobility. We needn’t worry too much, because the safety of all road users, including the people being driven around by the self-driving cars, is at the core of autonomous-vehicle development. In fact, these high-tech cars could be safer “drivers” than ordinary humans with driving licences.

C-HR VERSUS HR-V
KEN CHAN The Toyota C-HR looks outstanding, but do you think Honda will just sit and wait for the C-HR to crash its party? I’m sure Honda will have a plan B by the time the Toyota crossover enters the market. It’s going to be a very interesting match, so stay tuned.
Torque We intend to compare the Toyota C-HR and Honda HR-V/Vezel at the first opportunity.
