The E92 M3 is downright awesome. Performance-wise, it will take on the best sports and performance cars around with gusto, and hold its ground with consummate proficiency.
With an awe-inspiring 4-litre V8 lump residing under its carbon fibre bonnet churning out 420bhp and 400Nm through the rear wheels, this German performance icon dispatches the century sprint in just 4.2 seconds. From any angle, the M3 is pleasing to the eye (although it has been criticised for being a little too subtle about its abilities).
Edwin, the owner of this pristine white M3, is happy with the go-fast attitude of his ride. The only power bits he installed were a GruppeM carbon fibre air intake for improved breathing and an AC Schnitzer quad pipe exhaust.
But the dress-up bits from AC Schnitzer caught his eye when he saw them on their website. Codenamed “ACS3”, the aero body kit consists of four carbon fibre components – front spoiler, side skirts and rear skirt insert.
Although these bits look rather normal – mundane even – once they were installed, they transformed the car and gave it the illusion of a tarmac hugger, even though the ride height has not been changed.
The rear skirt, in particular, was fabricated to wrap around the exhaust. And its gorgeous carbon fibre shape contrasts stylishly with the white bumper and shiny metal exhaust tailpipes.
And speaking of the tailpipes, this awesome tubular foursome play the most fearsome tune – even at idle. The throbbing low-pitched hum is something you won’t forget in a hurry.
When you blip the throttle, the sound becomes altogether more unforgettable. It is not far-fetched to say it sounds like a Formula One racecar.
Elsewhere, it wouldn’t be a makeover without large alloy wheels. Edwin opted for the lightweight AC Schnitzer Type V. Measuring 20 inches across and featuring five shiny, interrupted spokes with dark inserts for added effect, these round works of art are the icing on the cake.
Here is one happy owner who not only has his cake, but is eating it, too.
