Mercedes-Benz has launched the CLA Shooting Brake in Singapore.
The car is the station wagon variant within the Mercedes “A” family. Buyers now have the CLA Coupe (a four-door), A-Class (hatchback) and A-Class Sedan.
The CLA Shooting Brake is available in CLA200 Progressive and CLA200 AMG Line variants. Current prices start from $187,888 with COE.
SHOOTING BRAKE AIMS TO SATISFY
The new CLA Shooting Brake is larger, roomier and more practical than before.
Dimensionally, it is longer and wider than its predecessor. Like the CLA, the Shooting Brake’s wheelbase is also 30mm longer. This enhances legroom for rear occupants.
The CLA Shooting Brake’s boot has also grown more spacious. It now offers 505 litres with the rear seats in place and 1370 litres when they’re folded.
These figures are 10 litres and 16 litres greater than the previous model. The boot can take bulkier items, too, thanks to its aperture, which has been widened by 236mm to 871mm.
CABIN TECH
Like all new Mercedes models, the CLA Shooting Brake is also equipped with MBUX as standard.
In place of analogue dials is a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel. There’s a 10.25-inch infotainment display with a touchscreen interface, too.
Like the A-Class and CLA models, the CLA Shooting Brake also has 64-colour ambient lighting to suit various moods. There’s also wireless smartphone charging for convenience.
PERFORMANCE
Both the CLA200 Progressive and CLA200 AMG Line have the same drivetrain. In each variant is a turbocharged 1.33-litre inline-4 paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Said motor delivers 163hp and 250Nm of torque. These figures can propel both cars from zero to 100km/h in 8.4 seconds. Top speed is 226km/h.
Mercedes claims that both CLA Shooting Brakes can manage up to 17.5km per litre.
WHO IS THE CLA SHOOTING BRAKE FOR?
The model is clearly aimed at buyers who want something stylish and practical. Within the “A” model range, it is the most useful and flexible, thanks to its estate body style.
