Nio has appointed Wearnes Automotive to be its official agent in Singapore, and the Firely, its first right-hand-drive model, will debut here in Q1 2026.
Many Chinese EV brands have made their debut in Singapore, but there has been one notable exception: Nio.
The carmaker, which has positioned itself as an upmarket brand, is known for producing vehicles whose batteries can be swapped at their proprietary swapping stations. It has also made a name for itself with its Nio Houses, which are shared spaces for owners to gather and relax.
Nio will finally enter the Singapore market in the first quarter of 2026 with its authorised dealer, Wearnes Automotive. And the first car to hit the showroom will be the Firefly, Nio’s first right-hand drive model. Its arrival will also mark the model’s debut in Southeast Asia.

Nio is known for its proprietary battery-swapping stations.
Designed to take on rivals such as the MINI Cooper Electric, the Firefly measures just 4,003mm long, and has a 42.1kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery that can supposedly deliver up to 420km of range. The Firefly is marketed as a premium city runabout.
A spokesperson from Wearnes Automotive added that “more right-hand-drive Nio models will follow later.”
Mr Andre Roy, CEO of Wearnes Automotive, said: “While many EV brands have entered markets hoping that things will simply fall into place, Nio’s approach is fundamentally different.”
He continued: “They are methodical, long-term oriented and focused on doing things the right way – from the product to the infrastructure, to the entire ownership journey. With the right-hand drive models now made available, we are pleased to embark on this new chapter as Nio debuts in Singapore.”
A showroom is also in the works, but its location is yet to be confirmed. Watch this space.
