Cycle & Carriage France officially launched the new DS5 (above) and the all-new DS4 Crossback (below) during a weekend launch event held at the DS Salon, the offshoot showroom of Citroen in Singapore. Eric Chan, managing director of Singapore motor operations at Jardine Cycle & Carriage, introduced the two newcomers from France.
In 2014 June, DS became a standalone brand and established its own badging and identity, with the tag line “Spirit of Avant-garde”. This is described as the philosophy of those who have an exciting vision for the future. In the 18 months since the debut of its new identity, DS has found 580,000 customers worldwide.
The DS5 is DS’s flagship model, with a distinctive new DS Wings front face, which is a key component of the DS brand identity that promises avant-garde design, extraordinary dynamic comfort, high refinement, attention to detail and advanced technologies.
The interior of the DS5 still brings to mind the world of aerospace design. The most symbolic feature is the cockpit roof, whose three dramatic skylights create a unique ambience tailored to individual requirements for day and for night. The cockpit is designed ergonomically around the driver, while the main controls found on the centre console as well as the roof with specially designed buttons, dials and toggle switches, are inspired by the aerospace industry.
Crossover vehicles now make up 30 percent of the premium compact hatchback market. The DS4 Crossback addresses the expectations of customers in this segment. The vehicle sits 30mm higher and embraces all the high qualities of DS style and design.
With the latest-generation 1.6-litre BlueHDi turbo-diesel delivering 300Nm of torque, the DS4 aims to deliver a dynamic drive. This stylish urban crossover displays strong styling features such as the wheel-arch trims, spoilers and roof bars, and shimmering expressive colours such as Tourmaline Orange.
The crossover’s premium features include comfy seats with lumbar support and massage functions for both front seats, xenon directional headlamps with LED turn indicators, automatic dual-zone climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen and luxurious touches such as leather-clad surfaces.
