A touchless car wash doesn’t use cloths or sponges.
Unlike traditional car washes, touchless car washes don’t involve cloth or sponges touching your car.
As the name suggests, they use strong jets of water and air to wash and dry your car respectively.
In addition, you don’t need to even get out of your car when you drive through.
Simply pull up to the machine, follow the lights and instructions and you’ll emerge out the other side cleaner and brighter.
Currently, one of the better known touchless car washes in Singapore is Smart Touchless Car Wash .
They set up in Singapore to bring local motorists a “high-tech alternative” to the traditional car wash.
The company says its wash doesn’t leave swirl marks, scratches or cause damage to the paint, something that traditional car washes could potentially do.
Located at 9A Serangoon North Avenue 5, Singapore 554500, it’s conveniently positioned near major towns.
Their opening hours are as follow:
Mondays to Fridays: 10am – 10pm
Saturdays to Sundays: 9am – 11pm

For $8, get an undercarriage wash, foaming presoak, high pressure rinse and a power dry.
For $10, you can add on polish foam treat to the four above.
The top-end choice for $12 treats your car to all the above, but adds on a wax shield for extra shine and protection.
It’s simple to send your car through.
First, you make your selection through the Self-Service payment kiosk, enter the wash bay while following instructions, and then hey presto, clean and fresh car!
Granted, the service lacks a vacuum option, and sometimes nothing beats an attendant cleaning out some stubborn dirt spots on your car.
But for drivers who eschew mass-market petrol station washes, a high-tech car wash like this could be a good bet!

Update: According to some Torque readers and our own observations, this particular touchless car wash isn’t exactly touchless. An attendant now wipes your car down after the wash, but depending on your preference, you can decide or not if you want it done.
