Singapore Zoo giraffes, Marco and Jubilee, have been adopted by Tan Chong International.
Tan Chong International Limited has adopted of Marco and Jubilee, the resident father and son giraffes at the Singapore Zoo.
The father, Marco, was born in 2004 in the Royal Burgers’ Zoo in the Netherlands and came to the Singapore Zoo in 2005. When he first arrived, he was less than 2m tall. Now at 16-years old, he is 5m tall and weighs 1200kg.
Jubilee meanwhile, is the Singapore Zoo’s first baby giraffe in 28 years. Born on 31 August 2015, he was given the name Jubilee in a nod to Singapore’s SG50 celebrations. He was 1.9m tall at birth. Jubilee is very close to his father, Marco, often following him around the exhibit.
Visitors can interact with Marco and Jubilee at the Wild Africa zone of the Singapore Zoo. They can also meet them up-close daily at 10:45am, 1:50pm and 3:45pm.
TAN CHONG INTERNATIONAL X THE ANIMAL PROJECT
To commemorate the adoption, Tan Chong International Limited has also partnered with The Animal Project, a social enterprise which aims to bring customers beautifully crafted, high-quality lifestyle products showcasing the talents of artists with special needs.
The product of the collaboration is a limited edition tumbler designed by Tay Jun-Yi, which features a giraffe father and son duo. Jun-Yi loves to draw a myriad of animals in various situations. He engineers social interactions among his animals.
With just a black marker pen, he draws each animal intuitively without any hesitation, and each carries a different expression. He is also part of The Animal Project’s artist collective.
Five hundred limited edition tumblers will be made and sold at $33 (inclusive of GST). Customers can purchase them at:
• Subaru Service Centres at 25 Leng Kee Road and 19 Lorong 8 Toa Payoh;
• Nissan Service Centres at 19 Ubi Rd 4, 913 Bukit Timah Road and 25 Leng Kee Road;
• Asanoya Bakery Singapore outlets at 15 Queen Street and 913 Bukit Timah Road.
The artist will earn royalties from the sale of the tumblers.
