Borneo Motors has officially unveiled the Toyota GR Supra, the first new Supra in almost 20 years (17 to be exact).
The car’s debut took place at the Toyota Showroom along Leng Kee Road. Gazoo Racing’s (GR) Supra is the first global model of GR’s sports car series.
Two versions of the Supra are available – one with a turbocharged 2-litre 4-cylinder and another with a turbocharged 3-litre inline-6.
GERMAN DNA
The Toyota Supra actually shares much of its DNA with the BMW Z4 roadster. Its platform, along with the 2-litre and 3-litre drivetrains, are shared with BMW.
However, the Toyota Supra has its own character. It is a fixed-roof coupe and its exterior design has nothing in common with the Z4’s.
THE SUPRA CLUB
You’d assume that the Supra Club is only exclusive to owners of the all new Toyota Supra. However, your assumption would be wrong.
The Supra Club is actually open to all Supra owners. In fact, it is open to owners of all Toyota sports cars, past and present. So, even if your MR2 or Celica is a parallel import, you’re still welcome to join the club.
That said, the Supra Club isn’t operated by Borneo Motors. It is a club run by Toyota sports car owners.
Borneo Motors’ Marketing Director, Samuel Yong, said: “Borneo Motors will support the Club’s activities whenever possible. It could be track days, tech talks or meetings with engineers.”
