Lotus Cars is returning to Singapore under the auspices of Wearnes Automotive, one of the largest premium distributors in Singapore.
It’s a truly happy day for local petrolheads as storied British marque Lotus returns to Singapore under Wearnes Automotive.
Wearnes will undertake all sales, after-sales, marketing and branding activities for the brand in Singapore, the dealer announced in a press statement.
Lotus’ new showroom and workshop will be located at 45 Leng Kee Road as part of the new eight-storey Automotive Centre, which is Wearnes’ future corporate headquarters.

Lotus was formerly in Singapore under the auspices of Hong-Kong-based Richburg Motors.
Richburg Motors clinched a dealership deal in September 2013, but appears to have relinquished it as early as Jun 2017.
The “Find Us” button on Richburg’s website curiously redirects to the company’s Hong Kong office, not the Singapore one.
Regardless, Lotus now finds itself in good hands with Wearnes, the largest distributor of premium cars in Singapore.
Wearnes currently has Alpine, Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Ducati, Infiniti, Jaguar, Land Rover, Renault and Volvo in its stable of brands.
Wearnes Automotive’s chief executive Andre Roy highlighted Lotus’ “rich racing heritage” and multiple “desirable and stunning sports cars”.
He added that Wearnes was looking forward to growing the marque’s presence in Singapore, singling out the electric Evija hypercar as a possible future model.
The Evija hypercar will have a mind-bending 1972hp.
The Evija will be a beast: the company wants it to be “the most powerful production car in the world” with an astonishing 2000ps (1972hp), 1700Nm of torque and a 0-100km/h time of “under three seconds”.
It’ll be ultra-exclusive, however, with a projected production run of just 130 cars.
That paves the way forward for the boutique sports car maker, which hasn’t had a new model in years. With the Evija hypercar, it catapults Lotus into ultra-premium territory.
The comfort-focused Evora will be part of the current line-up.
Right now, however, the Hethel-based brand will launch in Singapore with its current line-up of models: the Elise, Exige and Evora.
The Elise and Exige will be on display in the new showroom, which will be completed by late August 2019.

Lotus’ executive director of sales and marketing Geoff Dowding said: “I am delighted to welcome Wearnes Automotive to the Lotus family and am confident of the team’s capabilities and connections to manage the brand in Singapore.
The firm was founded in 1948 in Hethel, United Kingdom by Colin Chapman and Colin Dare when Chapman built his first racing car in a garage.
