Sometimes, I can’t get past the guardhouse at a condominium to visit friends and relatives if I don’t have all the correct answers to a barrage of security questions.
“Which unit are you visiting? What’s the purpose of your visitation? What’s your NRIC number? What is your host’s NRIC number? Can you spell the name of this condo backwards?”
But if I drive the “right” car, I don’t even need to talk to the insecurity guards. Just a nonchalant wave of my hand and the barrier rises magically to let my nice ride cruise through.
Eligible vehicles include anything from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz to every Ferrari made since 1973. I can also get past the guards easily in a Japanese jalopy, but I need to look like a minor celebrity or a major gangster.
